When buying your child's first shoes, there are a few important points to consider in order to make the right choice:
1. size: Have your child's feet measured before buying. Make sure that there is enough room for the toes (up to approx. 1 cm), but that the shoe is not too big to prevent tripping.
2. flexibility: The shoes should be flexible enough to allow the feet to move naturally.

4. fastening: Velcro fasteners or elasticated straps are practical for children as they make it easier to put on and take off and ensure a secure fit.
5. sole: The sole should be non-slip to allow safe walking on different surfaces.
6. try on: Let your child try the shoes on and walk a few steps in them to make sure they are comfortable and don't rub.
7. quality: Invest in high quality shoes that are durable and support your child's foot development.
8. brand-specific differences: Be aware that different brands may have different fits. It is therefore important to try on the actual shoes.
9. room for socks: If your child wears special socks (e.g. thick winter socks), take this into account when choosing a shoe size to leave enough room.
